Yeoubi Collection, part3

Yeoubi is my first digital collection. It is a collection of modern hanbok (traditional attire of Korea) inspired by the myth of the gumiho or nine-tailed fox. This is part 3/3.

As the tale goes, a simple fox is said to gain a tail every 100 years of its life, with which it becomes even more powerful. Nine-tailed foxes, who are almost 1000 years old, are believed to have divine powers; they can even take a human form. Sometimes they are portrayed as tricksters or sinister creatures, but other tales show nine-tailed foxes as pure and protective spirits. When two nine-tailed foxes are getting married it is rumored that there’s rain while the sun is still shining, which is called fox rain or yeoubi. In Korean folktales, when the nine-tailed fox transformed into a human, something in its appearance suggested its true nature. Fox ears could be seen through its hair or fox tails peeking under its skirt could betray its disguise.

Awed by the flowing lines of hanbok, I didn't want to alter the traditional patterns the inspiration is generally expressed through prints.
